James R. Williams was born in St. Louis, Missouri in June 1936 to Mary C. nee Jerman and Ralph J. Williams. He continued his love of music later in life with the organ and keyboard. In his teenage years h was active in the Boy Scouts of America and received the honor of “Order of the Arrow”.

Jim entered the military at the age of 16. After three enlistments he got out of the military and started a family. The first marriage did not work. He re-enlisted in the U.S. Army and had 2 tours of duty in Vietnam where he received the Bronze Star, Purple Heart and other service medals. At the end of this enlistment he reached the rank of Staff Sergeant. E-6 and again returned to civilian life. He and his wife built their home next to his in-laws and worked on their orchard, but this type of farming was not for him. He went to work for Bell Atlantic Telephone Company where he retired. Since his retirement, he expanded his hobby of photography to a part-time business from his home.
